开源 radeon 驱动相对好些，您这样没开 DRI。
Driver "radeonhd"
之后要加 Option "DRI"
自己 man radeonhd 看看。

EXA 支持好像有些问题，但 radeon 可以。

glxgears 不说明问题的，这个不是测显卡的，依赖 CPU 多些，有些顶极显卡测试结果才 xx 位数。

不玩游戏，这样就差不多了，没必要用闭源驱动。

使用radeon驱动有3D加速，如果radeonhd倒是不知道有没有。。。

3. Supported Hardware

The radeonhd driver supports video cards based on

    * [color="Red"]R500 style hardware: R5xx, RV5xx, RS6xx, RS740, M52 and up
    * R600 style hardware: R6xx, RV6xx, RS780, M64 and up
    * R700 style hardware: RV7xx

Note that this simple classification of the chipsets isn't exactly correct, because often the individual components are of different generations, especially on mobility chipsets.

you should try xf86-video-ati rather than radeonhd, the latter has no 3D support ATM.
