Thanks! I will give it a try too..... It's a shame that Red Hat doesn't have a consumer business model too. I'd be willing to pay some green for access to their update libraries and if they would offer a model where you pay i.e. $xx for the lifetime of the 5-series RHEL w/o support, just a forum and repository access I would have ordered it already. Their yearly subscription is just not what I like and Fedora is to "cutting crash" for me (plus the upgrade treadmill)..... Would make efforts like CentOS meaningless but concentrate the efforts much better.
Update: Just looked at Scientific Linux and it seems that they are half done. http://ftp.scientificlinux.org/linux/scientific/53/iso/x86_64/ contains the ISO's for x86_64 and as most modern machines are of that kind it looks like a good idea to do that first. |
