关于硬盘mount的问题，请教

我使用Sid，Gnome，打开桌面上的“计算机”后，其中有Windows下的两个NTFS分区显示在其中。点击这些分区后，提示错误：
Cannot mount volume.
You are not privileged to mount this volume.
挂载失败。
但是使用pmount却没有问题，如
wsh@wsh-nb:~$ pmount /dev/sda5
即可正常加载，且有写权限。
现在想请教一下，如何使得在“计算机”中点击图标直接mount而不用手工mount呢？

This package also contains a wrapper "pmount-hal" which reads some information like device labels and mount options from hal and passes them to pmount. Install the package "hal" if you want to use this feature.

If a LUKS capable cryptsetup package is installed, pmount is able to transparently mount encrypted volumes.

说实在的，我还是不明白：
1、pmount不只是可以mount可移动磁盘的，硬盘不是也可以好好地工作吗？
2、pmount是如何支持NTFS的写操作的呢？自动使用了ntfs-3g吗？
3、既然pmount可以为普通用户mount磁盘，gnome-mount为什么不可以也这样做呢？
