sendmail client

我想用php的mail()发送邮件，但是php的mail()需要sendmail。
sendmail是mail server, 我可不想为此装个mail server。
有什么mail client(注意不是mail server)可以替代sendmail吗？
如果我的理解不对，请帮忙解释一下

可以试试msmtp。但是需要外部转发服务器。配好后
ln -sf /path/to/msmtp /usr/bin/sendmail 应该就可以了。
下面是我的msmtprc：

timeout 60

account gmail
host smtp.gmail.com
