It is self-explanatory! I am worried about your CET-6 exam!....(just kidding)
A daemon is a system process (service) running in the background. Usually, it is non-stop, i.e. never-ending. A daemon can be running simultaneously with other daemons. Daemon usually ends with a d as suffix, e.g. sshd, telnetd, vsftpd, httpd, mysqld, lpd etc. Have a look with the command:
ps aux
You can see there are many servicing processes (and daemons) running in your system.
These daemons accept client requests and provide the relevant services, e.g.
sshd, telnetd provide you the remote login services
vsftpd, the very secure ftp server access
httpd, your web server service
lpd, your printer services
