我已经把ISO文件(45M)上传到ftp://www.linuxsir.cn/HongMingJi ... 出来,谢谢!
NOTES: This CD image currently can ONLY run on the i586+,
IDE Hard disks, 3COM/INTEL/REALTEK/AMD PCNET32 NIC,
NO SCSI! I have only tested it on the VMware 4.5.2,
build 8848.
PURPOSE:
The Linux From Scratch invented by Gerard Beekmans is more
and more popular in the Linux community. But it has some
drawbacks:
- To build LFS, you need a running host Linux system,
which is not always available.
- It's error-prone because you must type all commands
listed in the LFS book and you, as the human beings,
are error-prone.
- It's time consuming. Everybody who has built LFS
agrees with this.
I make this CD to ease and speed up the building of LFS.
With this CD you
- Can build LFS on a bare machine,
- Don't have to type all commands listed in the LFS book,
- Do some other things when it's building.
And finally, although this is a half-automated process of
building LFS, I highly recommend that you should first build
at least one LFS system command-by-command before using this
CD. The reason is what Gerard Beekmans puts:
"One important reason for LFS's existence is to
help people learn how a Linux system works from
the inside out. Building an LFS system helps
demonstrate to you what makes Linux tick, how
things work together and depend on each other.
One of the best things that this learning experience
provides is the ability to customize Linux to your
own tastes and needs."
TODO
In fact, this is a call-for-test release. There are many things
to be done, including, but not limiting to
- re-design the package building structure,
- make a boot floppy to be used by machines without CD-ROM,
- re-write the shell scripts to be used by machines without
network connections.
- support more hardware platforms. |
