esound当然可以了，esound是个sound daemon，处理gnome下的混音，kde下自然是arts了。
如果能直接用alsa plugin或者oss plugin实现才算(alsa有个plugin作这个的, 但是并没有native的支持 ;p)

不进X，在console下面

mpg123 2.mp3 &

如果两个都能响，算是内核支持
否则，软件支持。。。
