It means that two applications can't play at the same time. One of them will hang until the OSS is freed by another.

I can't use ALSA, because ALSA can't recognize my SB ENS1371(PCI 128) card correctly. I don't know why. ALSA tells me that I have two cards, but one of them is not working, which hangs all my multimedia application(XMMS,gmplayer..)

另外，gstreamer 安装后要运行gst-register的，README里有说明的。

gstreamer的主要目的是取代libxine，但目前还不太成熟
gstreamer也不是专为gnome设计的，尽管前面有个g
