其实在异种平台上装gentoo国外还是很多的。甚至有人在sgi indigo，o2
（mips R5000，r10000的芯片，195mhz）这样老的机器上装，真不知那些编译用了多长时间，耐性真好。

传说中得alpha就是这样子的阿。开眼。碰巧昨天和一个师第聊天，他在sgi indigo上面装gentoo mips。还说嫌eisa的网卡太慢。

这个是哪年的机器了，还是72线的内存。估计是6，7年前的吧。

当时见到这种unix工作站真是神秘无比，没想现在中国也有人开始玩着装gentoo mips了。

我一直有个想法，龙芯不是号称自己是mips兼容嘛！不知能不能把
gentoo也移植到上面。

在这种老服务器上编译实在是慢，楼主可以研究研究做交叉编译，用P4 2.4G编译，在Alpha上安装，这样不是爽多了吗

I think so, they tested Godson( right name? long xin ) with linux, I read from some report. the linux is more likely compiled individually for Godson. ( kind of LFS? hehe ) if lfs thus works, why not gentoo?

maybe distcc is more convenient.
