这是我在 kanotix 官网论坛上的发贴。英文不好,见笑了。
你们是怎么设置网络的,跟我说说好吗?
I burned kanotix-2005-4-lite to a disk and tried it for a few weeks.
I tried the live-cd in my office, it goes well.
I have a small LAN system in office. My hub will connect with to internet automatically as soon as the power is on. So all the computers can link to
Internet through this hub without any manual configuration.
In my office, we have windows98, windowsXP, mepis, kalango, sometimes Puppy, DamnSmallLinux, and sometimes other OS.
All the OS needn't any manul config (such as pppoeconf and so on) for internet connection.
Kanotix CAN connect to internet in live-cd condition.
But after installing Kanotix to my harddisk, it CANNOT link to internet, nor it find other computers in the LAN.
What is the matter? My PC is a very common one, PentiumIV 1.4G, 128M HY memeory, Maxtron 40G harddisk, realtek8139 netcard, so so, without any particular hardware. It was bought a few years ago.
I handled with the disk in my office for a week, but find no way to surf internet. Then took it to my home.
The PC in my home is also a common one without particular hardware: Elitegroup mainboard with integrated realtek netcard. But, this PC is alone,
not in a LAN.
I have installed windowsXP, Kalango in the harddisk, these OS cannot link to internet through adsl with username and password offered by my ISP.
Kalango was configure with pppoeconf.
On this PS at my home, Kanotix CAN link to internet at live-cd condition, but CANNOT after installing to harddisk.
At live-cd condition, I typed pppoeconf at konsole, then it says
"I find a connection at eth0......YES or NO?" I click YES, then it goes well and connected to internet.
At hd installed condition, I typed pppoeconf at konsole also, then it says the same "I find a connection at lan0......YES or NO?" You see, it is lan0, not eth0.
If i clike YES here, it will configure ppp0 in vain, that means it seems configured, but cannot connect to internet.
If i click NO here, the window persists to ask the same question, but konsole screen says warning:
"/USR/BIN/PPPOECONF line 117, COMMAND NOT FOUND"
Now my question is: how to link to internet after installing kanotix-2005-4-lite to harddisk?
If you anyone like to help me, could you speak English? I don't know German. Sorry for that.
thanks in advance

thanks for your reply.
I have done as you told me, in vain.
Now I'm at home with the lonely PC which can link to internet by windowsXP and kalango linux without any problem.
I ran netcardconfig, it asked me whether I use dhcp or not.
At first I click NO, then accept all the default ip address proposed by kanotix, but internet is still not available.
Then I click YES for dhcp, it failed to rise my lan0, but it told me that the netcard has been configured and asked me start the config at boot time, I answered YES.
But internet is still not available.
The worse is that when i reboot kanotix, boot process died at the step "failed to rise lan0" before start X.
could any one tell me how did you configure your netcard?
And, kanotix recognized eth0 when I ran pppoeconf at live-cd condition, but lan0 at installed condition. Why? |
