You only need the first CD but Debian CD are tooooooooo old.
The best way to install Debian system is installed it via Knoppix which is based on Debian testing or Kanotix which is a remastered Knoppix based on Debian sid.
Both Knoppix and Kanotix are LiveCD but can also be installed to hard disk. Approx. 2G space is required for installation.
Kanotix is highly recommended:
