今年Vida官方在开发1.2版本时彻底重写了GUI installer，现在更加符合gentoo的方式，其中的很多设计都是未来gentoo installer将采用的。
Vidalinux1.2已经在8月1号正式发布，不过暂时只提供BT种子，FTP的资源随后放出。

- The following list includes brief summaries of some of the more significant aspects of VLOS 1.2:
- o VLOS 1.2 is now based on the 2.6.12 kernel, which includes improvements in many different areas, including reiser4 support, wireless drivers, scalability and performance. Also this version include GCC 3.4.3 with support for NPTL.
- [b]o In this release, anaconda installer has been updated to Fedora Core 4, wich include a new installation progress more faster than the previous, support for PPC archirecture, two CDs installation and NFS network installation.[/b]
- o VLOS 1.2 includes GNOME 2.10.1 and KDE-3.4.1 two complete desktops environment that include useful applications, a web browser, a text editor, a terminal program, a calculator, and many others are included.
- o VLOS 1.2 includes Gdesklets 0.3.5.2 and costumized desklet-starterbar an applet that adds a desktop-based quicklaunch icon bar identical to the dock in OS X.
- o VLOS 1.2 includes support for x86 laptop PCMCIA support and wireless cards including: Atheros, Intel Centrino and Ndiswrapper for using Windows drivers for some wireless cards.
