请问怎样设置刷新率？

ubuntull

17寸lcd，装好5.04后，分辨率是1600*1200，屏幕上一大块飘浮提示：输入不支援。
谷歌搜索后，将xorg.conf最后一段修改为：

Identifier "Default Screen"
Monitor "Configured Monitor"
DefaultDepth 24
SubSection "Display"
Depth 24
modes "1280x1024" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
EndSubSection
EndSection

漂浮提示不见了。
但是屏幕可看到很闪，长久了眼睛很不舒服。
系统－－首选项－－屏幕分辨率 那里是不可设置的。
gtf 1280 1024 75得到的结果加入到xorg.conf后，没有任何改善。

请问要怎样才能设置分辩率啊？
