I used Gentoo for a while but I noticed I have to spend lots of time to learn Gentoo, not Linux. Also, I don't like system that are too automated because it may have done anything that out of my control. As in Debian, I never use apt-get. Instead, I use the low-level dpkg only for package installation and uninstallation, in such a way that I can take full control on what is being installed/uninstalled.
LFS is well suit my style because I have to do every installation by myself. I just wipe out the Gentoo system in my computer 3 weeks ago and re-installed it with Debian and LFS.
These are just my personal view points. If you think Gentoo may suit you, then go ahead. |
