弱问： 关于linux的启动盘 （急，系关trouble shooting）

我是在windows上用vmware虚拟的linux，想用RHEL 4的第一张安装盘作为启动盘进入单用户模式或者安全模式。结果敲完 linux rescue 或者 linux single之后都没有引导系统，每次都是进到安装界面了。

请问这是怎么回事？我怎么样才能进 安全模式或者单用户模式 进行trouble shooting的调试啊？

single user mode doesn't need rescue disk, simply put "single" at the end of the kernel entry in grub menu will do.
linux rescue should lead you to the rescue mode, I've never seen it couldn't before...

why I could not use the first installation CD to enter rescue mode(boot: linux rescue), but enter the installation process.
