请问xorg和xfree86是什么关系？

KDE和Gnome、xface都依赖X11还是Xfree86？
先安装x11配置好X，再安装KDE、Gnome或者xface吗？
我搞不清楚，我老是配不成gentoo的桌面！
装了x11，运行xorgconfig之后，startx。说一大堆东西没定义。

好象是：XFREE86是X11的一种吧。X11不是一个具体的软件。

两者都是实现X的，KDE，GNOME都是在它们基础上的，
使用时是二选其一，现在一般都使用xorg了

Initially, XFree86 is the open source implementation of X-window.  The development is forked due to change in licence of XFree86 since 4.4RC3.  The new licence is GPL incompatible and, therefore, major Linux vendors either stay in XFree 4.3 (such as Debian), SuSE (4.4 RC2) or switch completely to Xorg (such as Gentoo and Slackware).

For normal users, we only care which one support our graphic cards and work in GUI.

我的gentoo老是配不成X，之前很多gentoo的问题可以在LFS的文档解决的，现在配置X，gentoo用X11，LFS讲xfree86,不知道有没有可以参考的地方......? :ask
