The Debian Project announced Monday that a Linux kernel vulnerability enabled intruders to access four of the open source software project's development servers. Using a technique known as privilege escalation, attackers who already had access to a server employed the flaw to remove limitations that protected the system from everyday users. The development team published patches for the flaw Monday.
