有幸参加Sun科技日,还幸运地和Ian Murdock面对面地交流了~
分享一下,ZT我的Blog
November 19, 2008 is my red letter day!
I attended the Sun Tech Days 2008 in Guangzhou city with the permission from our department head (Thanks for the generosity of Mr. Huang). Ian Murdock, the founder of Debian distribution and The VP of Sun, who in charge of the Project Indiana, presented a presentation on the opening ceremony. Can you imagine how exciting it was to have the opportunity to meet with the father of Debian, as an experienced Debian user? So much I wanted to ask, but unfortunately, no Q&A section was arranged. Even though it’s a little bit pity not having the chance to communicate with Ian Murdock directly, I felt fabulous to meet with the giant in Linux world so closely.
When God closed a door, he will open a window for you.
When I was waiting for the beginning of next part of the show in the lobby, after finishing lunch, Ian was there waiting for someone too! So, we had a brief talk ;) I asked Ian many questions about Debian and OpenSolaris. He told me that Debian just like his own child, it had grown up, so its future depends on its own. That’s the reason why he left the team few years ago. I asked “Are you going to make
OpenSolaris the next Debian?”, he laughed. From his face I could tell that he confident about the future of OpenSolaris, even though intensive competition is happening in the OS world.
After finishing this journey, I backed to Zhuhai. I noticed that there was an unread letter from Redhat in my mailbox, which is the result of the RHCT exam I attended last Saturday in Shenzhen, on behalf of YGsoft. The result? Pass!
Life is full of surprises. I met with the master in Linux world on the day I was notified that I passed the Linux certification. I suppose that is a gift from destiny for my hard work on Linux on those days and nights in the NIC of NJFU.
