只有140M 有这个问题吗？我的570M似乎没有这个问题啊。用的Mandriva2009， 177.80

so far just T61 with NVS 140M will encounter this problem...
anyway you can use 177.**series and 180.06 Nvidia driver , as you went into X ,it runs smooth , just hang 30s as you going to X envirment.... ,

i use 180.06 now ,just wait 30s  as startx ... because 173.XX series can not compile in my box with error "Xen kernel...",but actually my kernel is not Xen version ...

驱动者，其实是内核的支援，要麽是编译进内核（如文件系统、网络支援等）、要麽是外加模块（像显驱或部份无线网卡的做法），严格来说换新内核一般都有更多的支持

Nvidia released a beta driver  (version 180.08) ,but so far from the reply information of the nvnews forum. This problem did not  fixed(restart of X it hangs for a very long time )...
someone user who has Quadro 570M also found this problem ... , may this problem just occur to certain version of Xorg on thinkpad box ?
Just waiting for the new stable release ... but i still use it , for me it just a minor problem , after all it just happend during you warm restartx , and i may not restartx during a day ...

and debian 5.0 rc  support my thinkpad very well , nearly perfect ...
