First of all, when you encountered problems, it is best to describe which distro you are using and post the relevant error messages, if possible.
So, please describe:
1. which distro you are using;
2. how did you upgrade your glibc? Did you compile it from source code or whatever?
Different distro may have different way to fix problems. In general, you should always keep a Linux LiveCD handy such that when your system becomes malfunction, you may try to use the LiveCD to fix it.
In the past, I had experiences to screw up my Debian system when I attempt to install certain packages. I can fix it with a Knoppix LiveCD.

The method used here described for fixing Debian system, however, fixing other rpm or tgz based system is very similar. It is only a matter on how do you convert your packages with alien.
Hope you repair your system soon.
Good luck! |
