How to use SCIM

I seach RPM package for scim.And I install it.Include scim 1.4.2-5,scim-lib,scim-pinyin.
But I am amazing how to use it.I input scim in term and I can find it in toolbar ,but I don't know hot to launch it?Ctrl+space?noting happened.Why.
Is there anything wrong?Pls help me !thanks!
