源代码安装的问题

今天下载了几个源代码方式的软件,但是安装中出现相同的问题,显示如下:
[root@wuzhou wu-ftpd-2.6.2]# ./configure --prefix=/

checking target system type... i686-pc-linux-gnu
checking for gcc... no
checking for cc... no
checking for cc... no
checking for cl... no
configure: error: no acceptable cc found in $PATH
[root@wuzhou wu-ftpd-2.6.2]#

请问这是什么原因,

没有GCC这个编译器，

你用的什么系统？
