The most serious problem in RH7 and RH8 is the inclusion of the very buggy "gcc-2.96", which was unofficial, heavily patched 2.95 but branded as 2.96 by RH.
In addition, the kernel is too old to cope with modern hardware.
For your information, I migrated to Debian since RH6.2.

First of all, suggest you to have a look at the 浏览精华区 in the Debian page. Bare in mind, do not install the old 3.0 "Woody" release, try 3.1 "Sarge" release instead.
If you want to test Debian, it may be a good idea to get a Debian-based LiveCD such as Knoppix or Kanotix so that you can play around with the system without any installation. |
