how to link to Internet by ADSL way

After I installed Zenwalk,I want to link to the Internet.I can directly link to LAN.So I must use ADSL way to link to WAN.

I use pppoe-setup to setup,after that I typed pppoe-start,it already showed:...conected!

But I still can not use firefox to browse the web site on the Internet.If a wrong username or passward was set in the pppoe-setup,it will not conected.There is the same problem when I use Gentoo,so I changed to Zenwalk.But ...

I am in my collage.I can directly link in our http://www.njupt.edu.cn and the ftp://ftp.njupt.edu.cn

But if I want to link outside our college.I have to use ADSL and pay money.

When I installed Zenwalk,my IP is auto get from DHCP,I alos have the gate way:255.255.248.0

and our scholl's DNS is 202.119.230.8,which is in the file /etc/resolv.conf
