uncompatiable problem with mplayer & KDE??

I just downloaded mplayer 1.0 pre 7, after compiling, i found mplayer cannot play movies under KDE, but it works fine under Gnomes.

Then i compiled it with --enable-gui perfix, the gmplayer cannot start in either X system.

I tried mplayer 1.0 pre 5, which worked fine on my friend's Fedora Core 2, but still not okey.

I wonder what the problem is, and how to slove it.

my System is:

P4 2.5G 512M
Fedore Core 2 with 2.6.11.6 kernel
mplayer 1.0 pre 7

well, i just found out the the mplayer cannot start is due to sound system configuration of KDE.
I can play files after changing the configuration.
however, gmplayer cannot start as before. it just halts and takes CPU time.

run your gmplay in konsole or gnome-terminal, log the message to search for abnormal entries.
